‘Ke Nako Africa – Africa’s time has come’: For the first time in history the Football World Cup will be held on the continent of Africa. A meeting place and exhibition space of a very special kind has been created in Johannesburg to run in parallel to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Every year since 1998, GTZ has played host to some 400 experts from the realms of politics, industry, the academic community and civil society at the  two-day Eschborn Dialogue.

On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GTZ has been advising Ukraine since November 2009 on preparations for hosting EURO 2012. Together with various actors from the worlds of politics, business and civil society, the objective is to develop and strengthen structures that will have a long-term future beyond the tournament.

Expo 2000: One World. In the year 2000, Hanover hosted the EXPO 2000. More than 170 nations were to present themselves to an audience of millions from around the globe. To allow poorer countries to take part, the German government provided a budget of some 51 million euros. Development-policy issues too were to be reflected in the overall concept of the world exposition.

At the NGO Forum in Berlin, which took place from 2 to 4 September 2009, more than 400 par-ticipants from 131 countries took stock of the situation the exists today and breathed new life into the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo.

Trade fair consulting in Bulgarian: Trade fairs and exhibitions are increasingly gaining importance in the context of international cooperation in emerging and developing countries. AgenZ has developed a consulting concept for the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) and is now supporting its implementation.

Between 2003 and 2008 around a hundred Transformation Thinkers were able to exchange ideas and opinions on political and economic change processes in their countries.

WASH United exploits football’s wide appeal to promote the human right to water and sanitation and raise awareness of good hygiene. The project is supported by international football stars such as the German international Michael Ballack and UNDP ambassador Didier Drogba.
