Eschborn Dialogue 2011, 21 and 22 June 2011 in Eschborn
As climate change impacts and resources become increasingly scarce, what will the economy of the future look like? The concept of the ‘green economy’ brings together issues of economic growth, poverty reduction and resource management. The Eschborn Dialogue is a GIZ forum that brings national and international actors from politics, economics, science, and civil society together with development cooperation experts to debate ‘Responsible economic action - sustainable development: new ways forward for national economies?’ Participants will be discussing the opportunities and challenges of global structural change and sustainable economics. Their discussions will provide vital impetus in the run-up to the Rio+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Brazil in 2012, which will also be focusing on the green economy.

GFFA

International business panel: ‘From Farmers to Consumers’ at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA)
22 January 2011, Deutsche Telekom’s representative office in Berlin
What has to happen to ensure that food worldwide gets from the producers to the consumers in top condition? And how can countries meet the constantly growing requirements posed by standards and certifications and become more competitive? The business panel ‘From Farmers to Consumers: Business Initiatives for Sustainable Value Chains,’ which took place as part of the GFFA, explored this and other questions. AgenZ and the agriculture division at GIZ were involved in organising it, working in close cooperation with a number of associations in the German agriculture and food sectors. The event focused particularly on the importance of cooperation along the entire food value chain.
